We’re excited to announce that Twirl is joining Modal. Twirl is a data orchestrator that makes it easy for teams to develop, test and deploy data pipelines.

Modal’s roots are very similar to Twirl’s. The vision for Modal was always to build better infrastructure for AI, ML, and data teams, who have been historically underserved when it comes to good tooling. We’re really excited to bring on a team that feels equally as passionately about solving problems for data teams.

Both Twirl founders have long backgrounds in the data world. Eric Hansander, CEO, led the Data Platform team at Better and was the Director of Data Science at Zettle before that. Rebecka Storm, CPO, was Head of Data & Analytics at Tink and ML lead at Zettle before that.

What’s next?

The Twirl team will be joining Modal’s office in Stockholm, Sweden, where they’ll be developing and expanding Modal’s serverless infrastructure as well as growing Modal’s footprint in Europe.

Their experience building and selling data products will be invaluable as Modal expands beyond AI inference to serve adjacent AI, ML, and data use cases. This year, we’ve already extended our platform to add products for sandboxed code execution and large-scale batch processing. There’s much more to come.
