Researchers, graduate students, and academic labs who are working on a project that requires GPU compute resources. If you are an educator looking to use Modal to teach a course, please reach out to academics@modal.com. Unfortunately, we cannot grant credits to undergraduate students at this time.

Modal credits can be used towards all compute resources, including in-demand GPU types. Credits cannot be used to cover team or enterprise subscription fees.

The credit amount is determined based on factors like university affiliation, publication and press.

Credits last 1 year and cannot be reinstated if they expire.

Status of credits and expiration dates are visible on your billing page.

Please reach out to academics@modal.com if you have not heard back about your application within 2 weeks.

We require a payment method so that your Modal apps don't get interrupted after your credits run out.
